Let's go with it. Charlotte is black, all the kids are various shades of mulatto, maybe even throw an Asian or Middle Easterner or American Indian in there somewhere. It can be just like the House of the Dragon show with the Targarians being black except when they aren't and nobody even notices.
 
They actually already did a Wuthering Heights with a black Heathcliff in 2011 and it was extremely mid. Maybe that's why they expected it this time around?

I watched a showing of Madame Butterfly where Pinkerton was chinese and his wife was black, so this wouldn't be the strangest adaptation I've seen.

I read the book some years ago and Heathcliff is called a gypsy multiple times and his brother is pretty cruel about it. But overall Heathcliff isn't a very good person. Although he was shaped by his upbringing.

They look similar enough in age to me. They cast older looking guys with younger women all the time.

She looks mid-30s and he looks mid-20s. And they're 34 and 27. Heathcliff is supposed to be a couple years older than her. It's just a bad casting decision.
And actually Cathy dies when she's like 20, so that's just...? Weird.

That bein said, dude was tanned but either gypsy or peasant level rather than nigger those people want him to be.
