Just want to chime in here and say that it was highly suspicious how "The Cure" mode of the game was released back in February 2021 and was declared free-to-play until a vaccine was developed - and how closely the developers worked with groups like the WHO.

Wasn't the game used by government agencies for a few years before the pandemic as a base model of how people will react in a pandemic situation? This is besides an online video game that I can't remember the name of that was popular in the late 2000s/early 2010s where a couple people got "infected" and some tried to spread the virus whereas other people quarantined. The inflation/economics manipulation strikes me as the government desperately trying to delay the crash another year, or better yet, until early 2025 when they can blame the entire thing on the Republican Congress and incoming Republican president. It seems to be holding up, since I have no earthly idea how the economic stats aren't somehow worse.

Looking at things now, it's amazing how bad things got in just two years.
