Worst Film & TV Show Endings - A good ending can be exceptional, but a bad one can trespass barriers.

Is it? I was vaguely intrested in checking it out and I watched the first few episodes but it seemed incredibly childish (borderline for toddlers) so I stopped, does it get better?

I'm mostly pissed at really good shows that got stopped before they even had a chance to put an ending together. Perpetual Grace, LTD, Avenue 5 (ok maybe it's not really good, but it was fun), and Mindhunters all just trail off as they were canceled. Or in Mindhunters case just given up on (ok I get it, it's the most retarded name for a show and I almost didn't watch it because of it, but it was really good. And they just quit so we could get that awesome jewelry propaganda movie Mank. Remember that? Yeah no one else does either.

Perpetual Grace especially as Steven Conrad had already shown he could give a satisfying ending with little notice with Patriot. But I guess whatever horseshit channel it was on got merged or canceled or whatever. Still quite annoying.

One of the endings that annoys me most is True Detective season 1. You have this whole season with very little cop show bullshit, I mean the show takes great pains to point out that it is attention to detail and hard work which let them solve the case. Everything is actually pretty grounded (or as grounded as a cop show can be and still be interesting, the nigger projects shootout notwithstanding). And then you get this stupid, out of character and utterly unrealistic fight scene at the end, and of course the good guys don't die despite taking multiple fatal wounds each. I mean you don't need them to die or anything, but the whole fight and results are just dumb and so out of whack with the rest of the show. I mean it's still one of my favorite shows, but I always skip from Carcosa to the hospital and pretend something else happened. A real shame they only made one season of that show.

Deep Space 9 has a transcendental journey and remains one of the best written politics focused sci fi shows ever surpassing literally everything in the genre that has come out the past 30+ years, and is definitely worth watching just because of it, but the ending is basically a wet fart.

Sisko's original goal was to get bajor into the union which he didn't do and was basically forgotten and the show that up to this point had been about keenly written political intrigue ends with a hamfisted fight of literal jesus vs satan that wasn't even really nessesary for the plot.

On one hand it felt like they were cancelled and wanted to wrap shit up asap, and yeah I guess shit was wrapped up, as I wasn't left feeling "but what about x" but on the other if you want to wrap shit up asap why the fuck did you waste so much time on jesus versus fucking satan that nobody wanted to see???

It could have been better, it could have been worse, its a mediocre ending that thankfuly doesn't ruin or undo or negate what came before it, but still makes you wish it was better.

To be clear how jarring it is, this is a show about failed utopianism, domestic and international terrorism, diplomacy, statecraft, freedom fighting, war between superpowers, the civilians caught in the crossfire, soldiers fighting on the frontlines, crippled veterans, spycraft and fragile political alliances that ends with LITERAL jesus fighting LITERAL satan.

The show had religious themes of false prophets, castes and how religious institutions can help or hinder societies, but it was always in a matter of factly grounded way that worked well with the political intrigue, not literal magical angels and devils duking it out in hell.

Enterprise had a worse ending by several orders of magnitude. That said, they screwed the pooch with how DS9 ended. They built too much up and then ended things way too suddenly and frankly in a weird and nonsensical way. Especially considering it was the culmination of the last 3 seasons

Deadwoods end wasn't very good either and neither was salems. That one felt like it was intending to have some kind of sequel but never did. Plus it uses the scorned woman and road to hell is paved with good intentions cliches to the point of just being stupid

Nobody gives a shit about a bad show having a bad ending. That's par for the course. DS9 is worse than enterprise because the show is actually good, so when the ending sweeps your feet under the rug you're actually dissapointed.

(Again tho, the show is still 200% worth watching, even with the bad ending it unironically blows sci fi the past 30 years out of the fucking water, go watch it if you haven't)

Edit: I actually forgot wtf enterprise's ending even was and I had to look it up whereas I remember all the other star trek endings just fine lol

Apparently this "It was all a dream" shit has been around for hundreds of years in storytelling but St. Elsewhere might have introduced a lot of people to the trope.

It should've stayed in the past. God I hate this method of storytelling.

The cliffhanger series finale of ALF greatly bothered me as a kid. Really shitty of NBC to let the show end that way with no resolution. Many years later a TV movie was made on another network, but it was more of a soft reboot than a continuation. None of the cast returned except for ALF.

When Chris Pratt started dancing in GotG I turned the film off and since then I have watched exactly zero capeshit movies.

I stupidly watched a few more, but GotG was kinda the beginning of the end for me.

Agree on Law Abiding Citizen too - that ending annoyed me. Jamie's character was an asshole and had done nothing to really arrive at the ending we got. Even some kind of extended death scene with Gerard Butler thinking about his wife and daughter would've been better than that.

I decided to watch it instead of sleeping because I think, "Well, this has Will Smith in it, it might be good." (Pre-revelation of the cuck arc with Jada Pinkett, mind you.) It was a mistake.



Every person who watched this movie will agree that this ending is not just bad, is just confusing, jarring and so out of place from what the movie is about and it kinda tarnishes the moral that this movie is so poorly tries to convey. And the implication is really unfortunate too. "If you're sad and depressed about life, you just wait because magical fairies from a magical dimension are coming to your aid!"

Is one of the worst endings I have ever seen, and you feel like you just wasted your time watching the entire thing.

I have a couple of candidates.

The TV series Castle. It stayed on air for a couple of seasons too long which just stretched the story out too far, and the last bits were complicated by the fact the two stars apparently fucking hated each other. There's some scenes in the last seasons where it very much looks like they're using body doubles instead, with shit shot from behind or 3/4 perspective to try and hide it. Then there was the fact they announced that the lead actress wouldn't be coming back for the final season, which was apparently news to her, then the last season never happened anyway, which just made everything a shitshow.

There's also the Lethal Weapon TV show, where the dude who played Riggs got fired after season 2 for being a turbo dick IRL, they brought in Seann William Scott to play a dollar store version of him for Season 3, after which the dude playing Murtagh decided to just fucking up and quit and so the entire thing just sort of fell apart with a whimper. On the plus side there was some fucking hilarious footage of Crawford and Wayans absolutely going at each other IRL.

I Am Legend, the ending misses the whole point of the original story. and crazy thing is they did film a much better ending.

Doodgeball A True Underdog Story, original ending was the team loses thus the title because in reality underdogs nearly always lose, which is a really funny joke but test audiences hated it , so they reshot the ending to what we now have.

Same kind of ending happened in The Dorm That Dripped Blood AKA Pranks. Only in that one, the killer gets away with it and stuffs the final girl in a furnace (where she dies off camera).

Hyena is a pretty solid crime movie with an ending so bad that roughly half the IMDB reviews specifically mention how shit it is. Basically it's a British version of The Bad Lieutenant but when all the plot threads start coming to a head for what should be a tense climax, the movie literally just cuts to black and rolls credits. Absolutely assholish.

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers has an ending so incoherent that I would consider it spiritually Italian.

Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort (the one directed by a Bulgarian pervert): I wasn't exactly expecting high art from the sixth Wrong Turn movie, but the ending for this one is legitimately really bizarre. In the movie, the normal dude protagonist finds out that he is related to the mutant killers (who I think are his cousins) and the killers' handlers (who are his brother and sister). His response to this is to allow the mutants to kill his girlfriend; then he goes and fucks his own sister while the mutants are allowed to watch in the same room for some reason.

Dog Eat Dog: I am convinced this movie was just Paul Schrader trolling. It's one of those "subverts your expectations" movies, but the subversion is always extremely dumb and everything that happens for the first 3/4 of the movie ultimately is pointless. I am still not sure if Nic Cage's character was supposed to be autistic or if his acting was just really bad.

The Cloverfield Paradox was bad enough being a lame rip-off of Event Horizon. But they had to remind us that it's a Cloverfield movie, so a giant Clover appears out of fucking nowhere in the final shot, having absolutely nothing to do with the preceding events on screen.



Evidently, the audience is supposed to fill in every plot hole with "muh multiverse", the laziest handwave trope since the Deus Ex Machina.

Resident evil 6 the final chapter... hooo boy. Look I wasn't expecting gold, but the series somehow managed to not be terrible for 5 movies. Then it screwed everything up from plot, continuity, editing, acting. Everything.

Apparently im supposed to believe that because the main character Threw a gas grenade on the ground in front of some zombies, the entire world is cured eventually? lol no.
