Yes Sophie, the character represents your feelings and yours alone and noone can take that away from you.
BUT when you start marketing these things towards a specific group claiming to be a voice for that group and even marketing the characters in said things towards children trying to bring them into that group then YOU SPEAK FOR THAT GROUP. At least do a tiny bit of fucking research and think to yourself "Hmm maybe this mouthpiece I'm trying to shove down the gullet of a group of people I claim to represent should say something that isn't based purely on my own opinion"
Edit: for the record I'm not against a person using comic characters to voice their own opinions, hell I do it all the time, but when you then try to get on a high horse about how your work is made for a certain group of people, rolling your eyes and going "Ugggh this is MY opinion not yours!" isn't gonna bag you sales now is it.
