One way, or another, the CWCki Forums WILL win!
One of the admins post this on WC recently:
That's still Proprietor/ana by the way making that post. At first I was a bit confused why he would shoot himself in the foot saying those things, but it makes sense considering he really doesn't care about the state of the site. He knows the community can't touch him and likewise he knows it's not going to negatively affect traffic. If anything this is actually good for traffic by creating ongoing discussion regarding site quality by getting users to feel more engaged posting to /meta/ making complaints while observing these rapid changes.
I might not use Wizardchan anymore, but it still fills a very needed gap within the imageboard community. Users
will keep coming back and will continue to use the site no matter how many ridicules rules he tacks on or underhand jabs he takes at the very community he is supposed to be supporting. Although now seeing that post it looks like these jabs aren't even hidden anymore. He smartly scapegoated many of his shenanigans and incompetence onto me while I was admin. Things like the exit bag tutorial on /b/, the Mumble server, the mocking banners, the fake /pol/locaust purge, the Twitter account, and the Facebook account among others.
Head's up, the current admin of Wizardchan has updated the rules into the most convoluted heap of bullshit I've ever seen.
Looking back at the rule list now I see that it has become coated in autism. Not saying that as a joke. One of the defining traits of it is looking at things as being black&white, 0 or 1 with no room for interpretation . These new rules are trying to achieve that by having a grand total of TWENTY ONE elaborately detailed rules that try to cram in every exception and nitpick possible. It's hilariously poor. Of course it's important to have clearly defined rules so users know how to conduct themselves, but there should be room for interpretation and actual human response behind them. Users aren't robots you feed a punchcard into.
(also rule 0 was amusing left unlisted, that's the point of it being rule 0, NO FUN ALLOWED)
Having the rules this way is also a guarantee to having users obsess over them even more. Two of the new rules prevent calling others normalfags and discussing past bans, which I can tell was added to try and avoid this. However I expect the complete opposite to happen as users wield this new power to accuse others of "bullying" or discussing bans.
Welcome to Rulechan.
No thought went into this from a community perspective and it's ticking me off more than it should. It's just that it hurts to see things self destruct when a lot of time and care were previously put into the site over the past two years. I still believe in the community and hope they don't take the bait of Proprietor's "CWCki vs. Wizards" notion he added to that post. It's just more scapegoating to redirect userbase anger. If any wizzys are reading this, godspeed in bearing through. I'd say abandon ship but there aren't even any rafts of a new site to jump to. Best to keep sinking until an alternative pops up.
