Actually, no, depression is mostly just a chemical imbalance, ususally of seratonin. A lot of people with depression (including myself a couple years ago) usually have every reason to be happy and want to be happy, yet feel empty and sad for no apparently reason and they don't know why

I find it hilarious that they all defend their NEET 'lifestyle' by going 'Oh, I can do whatever I want, I can study literature, I can hang out with friends, I can go out and party whenever I want, I'm truly free and happy while you're just a normalfag chained to your textbooks!' and then they turn right around and start whinging about how they spent the past three years in their dad's basement without showering and the mold on their skin is starting to burn, but they haven't talked in four months and can't remember how to pronounce words.

I can tell you that Australia isn't a cheap place to live, especially the state I live in, people struggle to even pay their utility bills on minimum wages here.

What is the thinking behind calling themselves "wizards" anyway? Merlin went outside all the damn time, in the original literature. Gandalf was basically homeless, therefore constantly on the move, and helped kick certain people (Frodo, Aragorn, etc.) in the ass hard enough that they collectively saved Middle-earth, after defeating a Balrog and burning off a "life" in the process. These guys know how to... sit around?

They know, deep down, that being a NEET is nothing to be proud of, so they call themselves 'wizards' in an attempt to pretend that they're special. Also, Wizardchan has more of a ring to it than NEETchan.

It comes from really old slang that if you're a virgin whose older than 31 then you're a "wizard." Wizardchan rolls off the tongue a lot better than NEETchan but is also really misleading. I thought it was an RPG board or something of the sort when I first saw the thread name.

...This thread makes me rage. A lot. Being a pathetic NEET permavirgin who contributes nothing to the world isn't genetic or a product of your upbringing. It's your own damn fault. Plenty of people have had abusive parents growing up, parental neglect, been bullied, and had other factors against them but have happy lives and make it into the real world. My dad grew up with 6 brothers and sisters, with an alcoholic dad who occasionally beat them in a drunken stupor, had a neglectful mother who stole his military pay for years and is now dead to him, and lived in poverty almost all of his life. He overcame that, has had so far a very successful and fulfilling life, is still married to my mom today, and has had a lot of friends that he still talks to every so often. Whining and bragging about the lifestyle choice you made (considering many of them live with their middle class parents who can handle the extra burden even though they have no business doing so) at the same time is insulting to people who are working extremely long hours and struggling just to make ends meet.

You can blame society all you want for making you a depressed and depressing NEET and call them sheep for not being like you, but it's your fault for not taking the initiative to do something with your life. There's no reason why you can't get off the computer and do something that contributes to society.
