So, with thanksgiving supposedly creating a spike in virus and all, what will you do?
 
We're already planning our Christmas Eve dinner (despite the death of an uncle on that day when I was 14.)
We've even gone to give chocolates and cookies to loved ones, and my grandmother and old babysitter received their gifts.

Lots of cards from our church members, shame we're moving away...
 
Gonna call some people, most of my family lives too far away anyway. Got a tree set up as seen in the pics and gifs thread but there's not gonna be any presents under it. Though only cause I have no one to give them away to, I could buy whatever I want every two week anyway. Have plenty of movies to watch, just need to buy some hot cocoa and marshmallows when i get paid monday.
 
I usually have a large Christmas eve party with the family and friends, I'll still be doing that this year but just with close family members, I didn't even have to tell anyone not to come, most of my guests are choosing not to come. It kind of sucks actually, doesn't really feel like the holidays, right now it feels like January with the shit weather and nothing to look forward to.
 
My family usually has big get togethers with all the cousins for Easter, Thanskgiving, and Christmas. The Commie Coof pretty much killed all of that this year, so like Easter and Thanksgiving this year, Christmas is just going to be the immediate family plus one or two friends.

My folks and I used to always go visit family on Christmas day but my mom's work schedule has been shit for the last few years and we've taken to just staying home and celebrating ourselves. So nothing really will change for us. We used to go see my grandma on Christmas eve, but we'll not be doing that this year. My mom's logic on that is since she works in a grocery store she's exposed to stupid people getting their stupid people germs on everything and doesn't want to pass stupid people germs to her mom. But Grandma has still been eating out at restaurants with aforementioned stupid germy people sooo there's almost no point in cancelling in my mind.
 
I think I've been pretty careful re the Rona. Since everything kicked off in mid March, I've:
- met one friend twice, once outdoors very socially distanced and once for a meal
- visited my family home once when restrictions allowed it
- had close family visit my home twice, the same members and at a distance
- met one of my siblings twice for coffee

I've done the vast majority of my shopping online, limited physical groceries shopping to once every 10 days(ish) and only visited a non essential store when I desperately needed something.

Friends, coworkers and strangers I follow on the Internet have all either ignored the rules or took them at their least restrictive. I don't wanna be selfish and justify myself as I am sure everyone else is this holiday season but I think I deserve to have some joy at Christmas, especially if the virus is still gonna be here for a while. I will be hosting two family members for Christmas dinner and the following week I will visit my family home for belated celebrations.
 
Wish we could keep it small with me,my dad,mom and my brother. (We work at home).

But they insist on doing this with my other brother,his wife and his two childs.
And all of them are at risk,one works at a hospital another in jail and the kids go to school (no mask for kids).
(they can't even take a test before xmas since they can't quarantine)

The distance,the masks, the ummmmm maybe it's better if I don't touch you etc will make it pretty sucky in my opinion.

I would have prefer to be less person and be sure that everyone is 100% clean so we can chill more.
 
We're keeping the celebration small, only my parents and I. That's about it honestly. I might ask some friends to join but I doubt they would want to.
 
My brother isn't coming home because of the coof, and my mom will be volunteering during the day. My dad will surely spend most of the day watching whatever football he can find. I've put in a request to work on Christmas because I want to remain distracted.
 
Having a small one at home and video calling the extended family, then we'll all have a sort of delayed thing in the spring or just make a bigger deal of Easter next year. Tbh it's nice to take the pressure off a bit, there's no expectations of it so it'll be more relaxing and none of the usual stress and arguments. We already know it was never going to be THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS so there's nothing to live up to, if anything it will be a nice bonus rather than an expected standard and we can just enjoy what it is.
 
The coof is the greatest excuse I've ever had to skip Christmas.
