Not enough people to maintain it, unfortunately.

Lolcow pages could be a good alternative for the opening posts, since they have a character limit, but yeah, sadly, there just wan't enough of interested people.

I really liked the idea even though I hardly used it when it was around. Hell, I don't think I ever actually noticed it was gone. I guess something about it just didn't click, it's a shame it didn't really go anywhere

I didn't use it much either. Contribution wise I only follow a few cows so I don't think I could have helped much anyway.

Having it offsite killed a lot of interest in it. The only way to really get it off the ground (imo) would be to find a way to heavily integrate it into the site, and the sites only programmer is a fat floridian gardener living in Serbia so that won't happen for a long time.

I don't get why you would want a wiki, you already can retrieve info about spastics here
Maybe if you would want to add more information, but replies exist.
There's also the problems like vandals coming in and constantly have to block them and then maintain all the pages when new juice arrives

It is useful to have all the information in a central place rather than scattered through hundreds or thousands of pages of replies. It enables quick checks of established lore about a cow and makes it easier for people new to a cow to get up to speed. Granted, it is only really necessary for the more prolific individuals but I easily see the appeal.

Right now if you want info you have to look at the OP which may be out of date or shitty (depends on who the author is) or scroll through hundreds of highlights, some of which are irrelevant.
The reason I think the wiki could work is because of the success of the Cwcki.

The wiki was a great way to read up on long-term cows without trying to navigate spergatoried and/or thousand-page threads. It was good for cows like ADF, Zoe Quinn, Brianna Wu, Vade, Nora Reed - basically anyone who had been around for over a decade, and especially if their prime years were several years ago. A fair number of cows still have grandfathered in shitty OPs that aren't kept up to date, so actually finding the meat of the thread can be very difficult. This also becomes a thing when a cow resurfaces after some dormancy, as people try and figure out their context.

A place to keep the history and summary of long-term cows has intrinsic value, I feel.

Some really old thread OPs only link to the wiki, lot of info new readers are missing out on.
