I saw a commercial for Furby shit the other day and I realized we definitely are stuck in a horrible time loop where nothing is new. Disney even barely makes new franchises anymore.

Are we gonna be stuck with the same characters, etc., the same shitty entertainment pantheon for the next 1000 years? Will our great-great-great-great-grandchildren be watching some posthuman Little Mermaid shit?

To a certain extent, nothing has been truly original for an extremely long time. There is a fine line to walk when it comes to paying homage to and being inspired by something while making something your own, versus copying or ripping something off in bad taste while adding very little of your own.

Your question sounds more like it revolves around IP recycling in general, however. Get used to it in a neverending cycle, as risk averse entertainment companies know that reboots and sequels which can take advantage of existing fans and a track record of success are a safer bet than taking the risk of putting out something new and unknown, and it also requires a great deal less effort on their parts. Oftentimes they'll own the IP wholesale and not have to worry about negotiating anything or paying for development. They will have even more materials to pick and choose from as time goes on, as well.

There really isn't any way around it, as much as I personally dislike it. You'll still get a handful of "original" materials, but anything successful will almost immediately find itself in sequel and spinoff hell. Everything will have periods of dormancy for the most part, but anything successful or popular or marketable enough will eventually find its way back in some form.

Don't expect corporations to try something new.
They're the fast food of entertainment.
You don't go to McDonalds and then complain that all food is now bad.
It's easier than ever to make entertainment and many people do just that.
Look outside of the mainstream wide releases, there is a lot of good stuff out there but you need to look because not everything has a big marketing budget to let you know.

All ideas are based on old ideas, all things progress on iteration and combination. There have been plenty of original things in some way or form if you're not too pedantic on what is 'original.'

I am talking about IP, however the reason for that is the Western cultural canon now is being entirely supplanted by this shit. Marvel, Disney, etc., the entirety of American culture and increasingly Europe, etc. is beyond a fucking paywall or is copyright protected.

Yeah the oil was saturated in trans fats. They switched to a different oil but now they spay the potatoes with a chemical that makes the potato’s never blemish. It’s not known if it gives you cancer but I stopped eating McDonald’s because of this.
