As far as whether all far leftists believe the political shit they profess, or even trying to pin down what they believe in particular, nine tenths or more of them profess to be Informed and even believe that they are Informed, but any kind of inquiry is met with sputtering like you're the dumb one. (The other one tenth is more informed and genuinely believes that we should all live in Unabomber cabins, but those you can get an honest answer out of.)

I've been around these people my whole life and I have heard some of the most retarded statements come out of these people's mouths. Like you could hook a potato up to a light bulb and get something brighter.

For example, I once heard someone say with no trace of irony whatsoever, "Why don't we just ban fossil fuels?" Or as another example, I once heard someone say that plant fertilizers are poison.

Not to go all Rapa Nui and don't even @ me, but I am personally of the mind that we should work towards phasing out or at least severely curtailing our use of fossil fuels for both environmental and geopolitical reasons and that the way we use nitrogen in this country is all fucked up, but GOD DAMN.

And I'm sure that if I'd approached either of them and asked what the fuck they were talking about, almost everything I said would have been met with a combination of partial truths, handwaving, and general nonsense. All of it betraying a complete and total ignorance about a broad variety of topics ranging from how the electric grid works to where food comes from, coupled with a staggeringly callous and dismissive attitude about the hardships of pre-industrial life. And I would have been the one treated like a dumbass and probable crypto-Republican.

What these people believe and/or think that they believe is basically religious in nature and you can't argue with it.

So yeah, I could also see our boy Will also realizing that these people aren't just well-meaning and reasonably informed people who happen to disagree about ideal methods of effecting political change, they're chaos agents.

He's like a real life Charlie Brown. Always taking shit, and always getting up and putting his best foot forward for more. I would say that we maybe seeing the evolution of Will Stancil. The slow realization many of us have growing up that the left is not well meaning. They are evil, or at the very least wholly destructive and only interested in power and chaos.
