Almost all of them lack the strength of character, the basic moral code to stand up for these ideas in the face of thousands of people calling them ridiculous for doing so. They see people like me getting targeted for asserting these ideas and want to be in the group laughing, not a target.

So they start yukking it up with Nazis and white supremacists. I mean we’re all friends here, right? No reason to be super uptight. Don’t want to look like you’re not in on the joke or take yourself too seriously.

Will, a member of the Party of Empathy, cannot mentally model the idea that anyone might actually have different beliefs and values than Will Stancil. Everyone (except for that tiny, discrete group of villains that Will labels as Nazis) thinks exactly like Will, and the only reason they are not standing up to the aforementioned Nazis is that they are simply too cowardly to defend themselves.

Only a hero like Will Stancil has the bravery to stand up for what every non-Nazi believes, but unfortunately, the crowd is simply too cowardly to support him.

That's why no one is taking Will seriously - not because Will is fundamentally unserious and quite deranged, but because everyone else is afraid to support Will's (obviously correct and popular) stance.

Read through the replies to the thread if you want more insight into how these people think the world should be run. Some suggestions from Will's followers from the replies and quote tweets:

Has anyone asked Mr Stancil how 4+ years of higher education might warp one's political outlook, in a way the "weak-minded" are unable to resist? Maybe continued presence in a Nazi bar university institution might continually reinforce that political bias with peer pressure?
