Grokepedia or whatever its going to be called is necessary because the main Wikipedia exile group had the bigbrained idea to called their competitor Conservapedia. Which is like the dumbest name ever for something if you ever want it to be a serious mainstream factual encyclopedia competitor to Wikipedia.

Whether or not Conservapedia is less biased than WIkipedia (probable since its hard to imagine a more insidiously biased site), is all for naught because at least Wikipedia wasn't dumb enough to name themselves HardLeftSuperPartisanCrazyCommunistopedia. Even the further left wiki containment site rationalwiki wasn't dumb enough to label themselves in the title.

Wiki is the phonetic latin for "I conquered", it's literally the conquered encyclopedia. You might as well have a happy merchant logo to go along with it.

Literally the only reason I use wikipedia is to look up the physical dimensions (length/width/height) of cars, and maybe for summaries of some super-detailed historical stuff specific to certain towns/states. Hosting a website is actually fairly cheap if it's just text with no comments and minimal images, so I've seriously considered making a text-only site that is just vehicle specs.

Wouldn't be opposed to doing a history site also, but then one runs into the same problem as Null, where fags who don't like the stuff you record will try to take your site down.

I remember 2009 Wikipedia being far more objective but also way shittier in terms of overall writing quality. It’s the phase of the site that every modern-day teacher derived “never use Wikipedia as a source” from.

I visited the website today without an ad blocker and got this innapropriate message on remembrance day.

Why the fuck would I donate to Wikipedia on Remembrance day?? I would very much rather donating to veterans instead. What the fuck has Wikipedia done for the next generation when these old people literally risk their lives in war to allow the next generation to live a better life.

This is very pathetic message as they claim to not host ads but show manipulative messages like these to then later on get funded by Google. I would rather see ads than this pathetic display of scumbag behavior.
