Why the same ugly actresses seem to be in everything? - Debra Wilson, Zendaya and probably others

Zendaya seems to be in every second film, while Debra Wilson seems to be in every second AAA game. Why? Are there people who actually want to see them in their roles? Even without bad acting they look awful and uglify whatever thing they are in.

Either way, as Solomon Bundy pointed out, casting directors don't even think that hard about it; they have a list of people who have been in things that made money in the past with a list of superficial traits, and they select from people whose list of traits fits the production based on pure vibes, so the same relatively acceptable talents get churned through mindlessly until new people bubble up through the cracks of Hollywood.

But the funnier version in my head is that it's all the directors trying to protect their asses and distract people after all the #metoo bullshit and Weinstein taking the fall. I'd love them to flat out say shit in interviews like "Look how ugly she is, clearly she would never get this role from sleeping with me, she is just SUPER talented" while their eyes shift around like the South Park episode about sex addiction when all the men are pretending they don't understand why famous men cheat.


Ultimately though I'm sure it's the same reason the majority of successful women get their positions....

Debra Wilson is basically the only black actress who will act in video games so that's why she's in everything. I get the hate for her being overused but she was actually great on MadTV back in the day, I remember laughing my ass off at her great imitation of Dr. Melfi in the Sopranos skit. I respect her getting that paper to be honest and she earned her place. Zendaya is in everything because she went through the Disney Channel pipehole that gets her cast in everything and I do agree that she is actually a pretty mediocre actress considering all the roles she inexplicably gets.

The WWE to acting pipeline is also very prominent and most of them are terrible actors too. It really is a shame that Hollywood is averse to finding new talent right now, my eyes nearly rolled out of their sockets when I saw the casting for the Nolan Odyssey movie. What a good time to find actual new talent since you're adapting a Greek epic and instead he went with the most bland and obvious cast of all time.
