Why not falsify history?

What if we( not you) created a secret society dedicated to making up bullshit fake history that never happened just to trick future historians and went through all the steps of making it look like credible historical documents? We'd make up falsehoods about the present ofc. No point in trying to fabricate ancient stuff.
