Why is weed not decriminalized worldwide?

I mean, if everybody is taking hits off a bong, people would be too chill to watch engage in acts of violence against each other, then we would have world peace. Antifa and Proud Boys, Christians and Muslims, will be together in stoned harmony.

Or maybe I just want to grow my own and not pay my state’s high taxes on it.

Because what'll you do with people who were criminalized and are still serving their sentence? Obviously, you can just release them, but a lot of them will probably demand some form of retribution. I think that's where the issue lies.

Cannabis turns someone into an unmotivated bore, or a good part of its users. Anyhow there's worse, but prohibition has its own way of giving the policeman's world a shape, and an easy hook if he wants to harass or arrest an annoying youth.
