Say global warming gets bad like they say, real bad, and half of life on earth is wiped out. Isn't it easier to save a planet capable of support half of all known life than colonize a planet capable of supporting no life?

It's retarded and proof these space fruitcakes are arguing in bad faith, they just want to advance globalism/environmentalism/get mo money fo dem space programs. If you can make some lifeless ball of death livable then you can sure as hell slightly change the temperature of Earth.

"Oh no the Earth is too hot wahhh cry whinge oh no we have to go live on an abandoned lifeless dirtball."
Colonising mars will allow societies elite, such as youtube e-celebs and binaural beats enjoyers, to leave us mere peasants to this doomed planet.
There, they shall produce the greatest society known to man using their hundo grand art degrees while we languish in a world where you cannot get your amazon delivery in a day and soy meal replacement drinks are scarce.

It is a grimdark fate for the farms.

Just how in the fuck are you supposed to colonize this?

The real idea behind working on having Mars be some sort of colony is to diversify humanity's place in the solar system, so in case something like an asteroid or something blows Earth into bits, there is still some sense of "humanity" left.

Now, how useful that would be in the long run (i.e. more than a handful of generations) is up in the air.

If anyone has ever stated that we need to colonize Mars because of global warming, they don't understand anything.
