There is no argument that Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, is a cool character. With the ability to fight, fly, and a near tunnel-vision mentality when it comes to justice, the character has made for some truly excellent comics in recent years. There are plenty of things that make Captain Marvel stand out in the Avengers crowd, but the one that creeps into her stories again and again is her astronomical physical strength.

Carol Danvers originally shed her Ms. Marvel persona following a fantastic re-introduction in Kelly Sue DeConnick’s 2012 series, Captain Marvel. Danvers had been rocking the Ms. Marvel identity (and her impractical costume) on and off since the 1970s, and the change felt like a breath of fresh air to many readers. Comics flew off the shelves, leading to her eventual inclusion into the MCU. Her 2019 solo film Captain Marvel (starring Brie Larson as the titular character), was filled with girl-power vibes and a certain amount of American military propaganda. The film was naturally a hit, introducing an even larger audience to Carol Danvers in a delightful, '90s nostalgia-filled roller coaster ride teeming with space aliens and fighter jets and punching old ladies.

In an infographic released by Marvel Comics, Avengers’ stats were measured against each other, compared and poured over like the back of a baseball card. It’s no secret that the Avengers each have their own skills they bring to the team. Some are all brawn, excelling in fighting, others are strong, smart, magical - but weighed against her cohorts, Carol Danvers comes out on top. Able to take immense abuse in a fight, she has insane strength - once punching out a literal dinosaur - while also being able to fly through space and shoot photon blasts from her hands. Additionally, Hank Pym theorized that comic readers hadn't even seen the full extent of her powers, leaving fans to wonder - if this is the tip of the iceberg, exactly how big is the actual iceberg?

Captain Marvel is at the top of her game as an Avenger. Between her training and the Kree blood that is the basis of her powers, she can definitely hold her own against the best of them and win a fight any day. Brie Larson even famously began an extreme workout routine to play the character, sharing videos of herself pushing a Jeep up a hillas a display of her newfound, Captain Marvel-inspired strength.

With the addition of Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, to the MCU canon, audiences will likely be treated to even more of Captain Marvel in the future. The character has continued to appear in comics and while her focus on the end-goal has clouded her judgement in the past, the character is deeply committed to using her powers to help better the world. Even Iron Man knows that if you want to wina fight, you bring Captain Marvel and then stand back and watch a strong woman do what she does best.

Captain Marvel has always been shit. Reminder the only reason she exists is because if she didn't, DC would jump on the name just like in the 90s to make it a total fucking meme.

That's right, at one point, DC owned the rights to the name "Captain Marvel."

still trying to cope with the fact that super hero wamminz movie didn't make as much as society clown man?

Comic sperg time.
Yes, Carol Danvers is extremely powerful. But, like Superman, struggle against others isn’t where her character thrives in a story. Her character is much more suited for “man vs. self” narratives, where her own flaws are her downfall.
That’s when she’s written well, but as with most powerful wamen in comics these days having her look too flawed is haram.

Oh man we're getting into superhero power-level sperging. MY FAVORITE TIGHTS-WEARER CAN BEAT UP YOUR FAVORITE TIGHTS-WEARER.

Nat could easily take her out.

And I don't think she's as powerful as Janet especially since she's got the powers from the quantum realm.

Wanda is of course another
It's really weird that these people just skip over Wanda like she's not the strongest human in the MCU, and pretty much always has been. It's one of the weird things about feminism, theres one perfectly well liked woman feminist should be happy with but somehow they're not. Very confusing, many such cases! Sad!

Because she has to be a Mary Sue, in this day and age. I sure hope that at some point they finish her off and turn her into a bed-ridden, comatose husk like she was shown in the X-Men cartoon back in the day.

Her strength is one of the biggest problems with her.
Every single MCU hero had a foil who could beat them up, it's what makes a movie's climax exciting.
Even Hulk had Abomination in his movie and he also lost to Thanos, he's strong but not the strongest.
Scarlet Witch is technically more powerful but you can knock her out with a single punch if she doesn't see you coming (Hawkeye took her out in Age of Ultron, nuff said).
CM is the only one who hasn't had a villain who could match her in any way, that's not fun, that's boring.
It's not 1999, CGI explosions aren't exciting anymore, you need tension and there's no tension when your hero can beat up everyone.

If you are making a character who can't be matched, you can't write a generic "bad guy does bad thing and then good guy fights bad guy" story, you need to get creative to make the character interesting.
Watchmen did it well with Dr Manhattan but the MCU ain't no Watchmen.

The only way they could make her interesting is if she becomes a villain.
Having a villain that's stronger than everybody else is perfectly acceptable, it's actually preferable because it gives the heroes something to overcome.
Since they will probably try to introduce Galactus sooner or later, they can have her become a Herald.
They won't but I guarantee that people would like that.
