That being said I think the reason nobody uses it anymore is that traditional style blogs do poorly in search engines

Blogs haven't really been a thing since social media. Remember when you used to subscribe to peoples RSS feeds so you could catch up? Then. BlogRolls, WebPings, del.icio.us? Yeah, that really stopped around the time of Facebook.

Writing a personal blog is shitting into the void. Unless someone knows you're there (and cares), they're going to be doomscrolling somewhere else.

Everyone got banned years ago, is my impression. "Vox Day" comes to mind (unfortunately, because he sucks).

I used to host archives of old talk radio shows—the one by the guy who directed A Christmas Story, and a couple other similar things of that era/type—on it.

As soon as "search" started picking it up, I was thrown off.
