Anyway, he caught my attention by being shitty at everything. I mainly pay attention when something big happens with him these days. Like when he was dropped by Machinima, when he got dumped by his girlfriend, and when the Sons of Kojima imploded because Fred is a nutcase, or when he accidentally set off a chain reaction that lead to the discovery of Jon Ross and @SpergMagnet being lolcows of their own.

I think I do feel a little bit of pity for the guy in the end. He's a fuck-up and it's all his own fault, of course. But he just strikes me as a sheltered dumb person who only got into this situation because he doesn't understand money or social interaction with people who won't just act as his Yes-Men.

Back in 2013-2015, Phil wasn't as notorious here, and while he's always been pretty infamous in Youtube, it was kind of an epic adventure of Phil, a dumb manchild vs the world. There was a sense of joy so to speak, and Phil himself wasn't the depressed shell he is today.
I know made comparisons with CWC like 50 billion times already but it's similar to how some people find following CWC nowadays depressing because of the mess his life is now, but that's because of his own doing.
A part of what made Classic DSP so memorable is that you really didn't feel pity for the guy, he was just a hilarious fuckup to watch and the sheer stupidity he expressed was mind blowing. (shit like the bugged jumping mechanic moment, not knowing to buy the shotgun with the flashlight in GTAV and failing, puzzles in general, etc)
Nowadays, with Phil being like he is nowadays, his playthroughs not yielding for great TIHYDPs like they used to (there are exceptions obviously) and just him being so isolated, it's sad to watch really.
Never thought I'd say this, but following Phil nowadays is a little sad. But as stated before, he has no one else to blame but himself for his current situation. He can't just sit and blame SOK and the detractors forever. He has to face reality sometime.

It's because he fascinates me. He does everything wrong but still somehow manages to chug along.

I can't listen to too much of him though because his voice and manner of speaking really annoys me for some reason.

For me, originally I was a fan of his. I watched him. Never spent money on him because maybe once a month I'll tip a streamer a few dollars, I never liked the greed he showed. But I watched because I thought he was the be all and end all in the FGC. I started detracting when I realized just how toxic he was to the FGC. I found some people after an evo about 2 years ago who I became very good friends with who brought me back into the FGC fold. Then I realized just how bad Phil was.

I kept watching from time to time to see what the latest BS he was spewing up until the time he asked for work from home ideas be emailed to him. I spent a few hours curating a list of 10 jobs that he could do from home, and I even offered to be a positive reference for him to help him get gainful employment. Never received a thank you. Never a fuck you. Nothing. So I asked him on Twitter if he had gotten the list. No response. I asked again. Nothing. By then he was in full on begging mode that no job would save him. I finally posted on Twitter that I had curated this list for him and he didnt bother to even acknowledge that he received it, no thank you no fuck you no nothing. It was that day I was blocked by Phil and I was in full blown Detractress mode.

It may have been completely different for me had he just said something as simple as "thank you". But since it wasnt accompanied by cash, and it meant he'd have to work for a living, he earned another detractor.

I initially started watching him for the gaming fuck-ups, the TIHYDP material. But when he started using the stream chat to finish games that began to dry up & get boring. The fighting game salt videos are still good, if a bit repetitive imo. As a cow, he is in that "Infrequent high milk yield" category IMO.

Now what fascinates me the most about Phil is the natural gravitation of autists into his orbit.. It's amazing how much they really hate/love him! To the point where I would commission a clinical study of some sort, because it is truly a captivating phenomenon. And I think they are what will drive this subforum.

The only reason I watch him is to see when he fails at simple objectives by overthinking shit. For example in Batman: Arkham Asylum with the line launcher, or as simple as throwing a grenade through Leon McAffrey's window in GTA3.

Sadly, his stream chat hand-holding him through games made it nowhere near as entertaining. He however has his moments during fighting games.

Like most people on this sub,I watch the occasional TIHYDP and Highligh/Summary video made by other people,not DSP directly.I follow him because he's hilariously bad at video games and at pretty much every other aspect of his life that's not lying to guillible dumbasses.Him never ceasing to complain,his overall narcisstical/manchild behavior and his twitter/forum antics are also decently entertaining.

Normally Phil wouldn’t draw my attention because the internet is full of assholes. I keep up with Phil because of the dynamic between him and his fans. He’s like the male, nonsexualized version of FinDom cam whores.

The first time I saw a video of his I thought that had to be an obnoxious 16 year old judging by the voice. Didn't know he had this kind of reputation, though (There were also people arguing in the comments over if he was shit or not because lol)

Then I found TIHYDP Metal Gear Rising, him constantly failing at the Sundowner boss, and complaining it was a "puzzle boss" and you had to do a "puzzle slash" to disable his shield safely. When Sundowner and his shield mechanic have been regarded as simple to deal with and his boss fight underwhelming in general.

The only way I can watch anything from him is through proper TIHYDPs. Otherwise, he i the worst damn YouTuber I've ever seen in quite some fucking time and I can't believe people want to be like this fucking obese-as-hell & disgusting-as-fuck clown!

However, if there's one thing I keep in mind when watching this POS, it's to avoid anyone making fun of him on SoK's level, as they honestly suck even more and ruin the fun of what TIHYDPs aim to have making fun of the fucking fat & disgusting clown on subject.
