It had potential but the constant pop culture references and commentary on modern day social issues really ruined it's appeal.
And it gets worse with every revival. The first episode to the latest season is just a giant ad for hulu.
Futurama almost comes across as a mockery of human advancement, Americana, and how humans treat non-humans.

Part of what made Futurama enjoyable were the plausible science-fiction scenarios and humbling of humanity to the universe community at large. In Futurama, humans are just a small part of this crazy universe, with a cast of humans as a mere delivery service. At it's release most science fiction media placed humanity on a pedastal as heroes. In Futurama, the universe tells humans "Been there, done that. What took you so long to get to space?".

I think the delivery service thing also made it easy for the creators to write "calls to adventure", as most episodes started with "a job" and shenanigans ensue.

I haven't seen the new movies or episodes because it's obvious the show ended a long time ago with that episode where Leela and Fry grow old together and decide to "do it all over again". Modern Futurama is basically as relevant as Spongebob and Simpsons.

Hey at least Futurama had the decency to end.
They got picked up for another season or so. The new season started airing about 1-2 months ago.

The Hulu revival that happened this year is probably because every company and their mother has their own streaming service, and Hulu needed something to attract people to their website (besides The Office reruns).
