Why do people romanticize the Troubles?

Really, the only reason to not like them is if you're either some kind of British nationalist, or you live in a country that has a similar separatist/minority nationalist movement
Or you realise that blowing up innocents isn't the best way to get the boot off your neck.

Because there's fuck all else to do in Northern Ireland. You can't even shoot people any more, you just have to reminisce about it instead while in the queue at the Job Centre.

You don't see it so much these days actually, aside from American edgelords who couldn't find Ireland on a map. The Irish have since discovered that they were worried about entirely the wrong group of invaders.

Yeah that's what I'm getting at. My dad did so much he had to go on the run. Granted this was before I was born but like I wish I got to kill British soldiers too.
The Leftist leaning Oirish supported Muslims and Africans. Now the Oirish are being replaced by Africans and Muslims. You'll be the first White country gone within thirty years.

The British clothed and fed the Irish who poured through Liverpool docks. Queen Victoria donated (the equivalent in today's money) 2 million pounds to the Irish refugees.

I never understood how a potato famine caused the Irish to starve? Working-class British children would kill pigeons with their catapults for their mothers to bake into pies and their fathers caught or poached fish, hares and other wild game.

Maybe IQ differences?

From experience it's almost 100% homeless people or champagne socialists who idolize the troubles. I know a lot of people who lived through the troubles, none of them look back on it fondly.
Idolizing the trouble has been co-opted by Irish leftists as they get to pretend that the Irish are an "oppressed peoples" and get to act all big and tough because they "beat the brits".

People who are still invested in the troubles and the north are genuinely retarded, both of our governments are flooding our countries with violent brown retards which is a far greater problem.
They didn't beat the Brits.
1. Right-wing Americans like them because of their gun fetish and the fact they were enacting their second amendment fantasy of an armed insurrection. The IRA is particularly appealing over other examples (the Taliban, the Vietcong, etc.) because they were never anti-American, so no cognitive dissonance is necessary.

2. Socialists and communists like them because of the "anti-imperialist"/"anti-colonialist" angle.

3. Most people around the world like them because Britain spent the past five hundred years giving pretty much every other nation on Earth at least one reason to hate them.

Really, the only reason to not like them is if you're either some kind of British nationalist, or you live in a country that has a similar separatist/minority nationalist movement (Spain with the ETA, Turkey with the PKK) who is concerned about them being emboldened, but even then it's a balancing between that and "yeah, but they're fucking with the British".
The British built schools, hospitals, roads, railways, etc., improved standards of living, outlawed slavery, child marriage, sacrifices, cannibalism, "honour" killings and burning widows alive.

Then we left.

As a Briton, I'd rather we had kept to ourselves and left the countries we colonized improved. They would all be shit holes and we would still be Britain. Maybe not as wealthy or powerful, but still Britain.

This applies to all people groups. No one knows where they come from. All they know is that they have to chase money.
A fair point, but when it is your own people, it is particularly saddening.

This is based on you conceding that England is already a non-white country, yeah? Pre-emptive, but not an unmerited sentiment.

The British invaded this country and took it by force. This is respectable. Moralizing about their "improvements" is vanity and pomp. They destroyed our language, introduced a second form of Abrahamic filth, and forced the natives into tenant slavery. Those who enjoyed the benefits of your "improved" society where those who sublimated themselves to the British order or those who were planted here by the British to overlord over us. Just as the conquered has no right to demand mercy from the conqueror, the conqueror has no right to expect fealty from the conquered, and it is beyond absurd to play both conqueror and moralist at once. The legacy of the Empire is that it willingly allowed liberalism and globalism to neuter and carve it up without fight or protest. At least the Romans rotted from the inside out.
