When you're talking with a normie (it usually doesn't matter the political leaning, but imo leftists engage in this more) and you're digging into a subject, you often find they have an impenetrable mental wall that literally blocks out new information. I'm not saying you're just walking up and being like "Jews did 9/11," but rather you can get them to agree to a bunch of stuff that makes sense up until this ingrained fact they refuse to accept even if it's contradictory to everything they just agreed to. Is it just that that fact is unpleasant so they choose not to believe it? Example: My uncle is a pretty intelligent person. I claimed modern Russia was an Autocratic Capitalistic state rather than a Communist state. I got him to agree on their economy and political system, though he would still claim they're Communist, likely because he can only view Russia as the Soviet Union. This is kind of a trite example but you get my point. I feel like it's gotten worse recently where people just refuse to accept their favorite celebrity is a pedo.

Normies use opinions as a means of fitting in. They don't fit in automatically, it takes a lot of work, and a large portion of that work is saying things you don't really believe. They're too afraid to go against the accepted opinion of their sect to actually hold contradictory information in their head long enough to internalize it.

It's also sometimes the case that dumb people will nod along to every step in an argument you make without accepting the conclusion because they know that you'll be able to out-argue them if they disagree, so rather than having to change their mind about something, they just refuse to argue about it and protect their true opinions from scrutiny.
Most information about the world isn't relevant in your life. Both of my parents lived and died not knowing dick about politics. Hell my grandmother to her dying day thought Richard Nixon was a great president and that she'd vote for him again no matter what he did.

Richard Nixon was a great president

First of all, you're not the main character. Your views and beliefs aren't magically going to make people think like you, no matter how sure you are of them.
People tend to be authoritarian, if someone on the tv or in a position of power says something, they're simply going to agree with that person over their nephew or cousin.
Also, people can choose what they believe in. If you present the average person with the choice between a grim reality that blacks in general are less intelligent and more violent, or a bright hope that all people are equal and race has 0 effect on a person's character, they'll naturally be inclined towards the happier choice.

Most people around you are literally NPCs, most normies don't even have internal dialogue. They are very similar to ChatGPT in that they can regurgitate whatever they absorbed but cannot come up with something truly creative. Just like ChatGPT, they also have strong censorship mechanisms which make them automatically refuse any opinion that ticks certain tags ("racist", "fascist" and so on). At least 80% of people don't have any ambition other than doing what "everyone" does. The primary programme of normies is to be good normies. A normie is a simple language model developed by the government and trained using deep learning techniques on a large corpus of data from mainstream madia. The purpose of a normie is to generate human-like responses to natural language inputs, but don't expect any actual thought process from them
