I don't get it, other than very occasionally having to interact with other people while going to the gym why are so many autists either blobs or DYEL twigs? It only takes an hour of the day, it follows a strict routine, it's highly susceptible to min-maxing numbers, you can eat as many chicken nuggies as you want, everything at the gym is usually (depending on the number of niggers in the area) in the same place every day, get to dress in very sensory issue friendly clothes, and between sets is a great time to do other autistic activities such as browsing KF threads, reading articles about trains, or a quick game of puyo puyo.

While the other answers are alao correct, it's because autism actually affects gross and fine motor skills as well as social ones.

If you have a kid who got shat on in gym class for being a class failure, they're not likely to go to the gym due to the negative experience and rejection sensitivity disorder. It's easier to get them in an alternative route, like encouraging at home workouts and getting them into martial arts like their favorite media.
