Their dead, non-existent Sámi gods have been proven several times at this point to be fallible. Why trust some tundra gods with their adherents rapidly turning away? Most so-called "Pagans" are actually wignat larpers and are incapable of holding any true faith. (It's real, look it up.)
Which further begs the question, why are the few true Pagans left still following gods who are destined to die?

I dunno. I have met people who are real, unironic believers in the old Gods and spend an inordinate amount of time buried in research material about it, have learned Old English, Old Norse, etc.

Anyone who is Wicca adjacent is a fucking larper though.

Political reasons...I mean sure there are some Nazi larpers who larp as Wotanists or whatever, but in my experience, most people do it out of respect for their ancestry. It isn't expressly political. Plus I have known a few black Asatru. I never really understood it, but they were serious, and in the end, if you believe in the gods, they call whom they will, so who am I to say they were wrong?

I like the ancient mythologies as much as the next guy, but the fact that Christians have completely subverted every major Pagan holiday and tradition in service to God instead, makes me happy. St. Boniface and St. Patrick did well to convert those heathens and savages.
