I played RDR1 and I don't know anything about it. What side should have won?
If you research the Mexican Revolution, theres like at least 4 or 5 times a rebel group takes over then gets overthrown by another group.
In a nutshell its more like this:

Zapata was the only one that actually gave a fuck about his people.

Pancho Villa was an interesting character though, one thing most people aren't aware of is that he was heavily funded by the Germans. They plotted to use him as a distraction to keep American out of World War I for as long as possible, and that included Pancho Villa's invasion of New Mexico.

Anybody interested in learning more about that and some of other important background on the financing of the Mexican Revolution can read up on Felix Sommerfeld (the main German spymaster tasked with funding the revolution), and a more organic funding source from a wealthy Boston heiress named Elizabeth Trowbridge who ended up marrying one of the Magonistas.
