Wish King Von could be alive to see this, we may have just gotten the first pope from O Block.

Since the pope is infallible when it comes to matters of Church doctrine, he cannot make things that are immoral according to Church doctrine (like gay marriage) moral, so I wouldn't worry about him possibly changing his mind.
Keep in mind that Francis was about as progressive as they could swing. Formally doing a blatant 180 on doctrine would be ruinous for the Church.

This seems to be his twitter account

I tried archiving, but the archives won't show he was the one that reposted them.

I honestly hope he says out of America. We didn't need or want more immigration pushing hucksters the catholic church really think he's going to be popular?

like some folks mentioned earlier in the thread but an American pope elected now makes me think there is something going on behind the scenes we are all unaware of. I think we can all agree an American pope is unprecedented, and for this to happen in my opinion there had to at least be some consideration of the geopolitical scene in its current state or influence from the trump administration. The most powerful country on earth also having someone as the head of faith for the world largest Christian branch(and religion frankly) just rings so many bells in my mind of America tightening its grip on hegemony or even future imperium.

I mentioned that and yeah, I think it's some sort of geopolitics. Thing is though, His Holiness has not been the biggest fan of Trump so that makes me think they're more worried about America than China and Russia. Wouldn't be surprised if the news from India spooked them since that's two nuclear powers fighting.
