Edit: I think the best advice would be to buy the "best" pasta you have access to. Not necessarily the refrigerated stuff at the deli section (US), but step up to De Cecco, or a similar brand that is bronze cut.
That style leaves a slightly rougher surface that holds onto sauce better.

We found a recipe for farfalle with smoked salmon and a vodka cream sauce. Now all we need to do is figure out which brand at the store is bronze cut.
