It's real, a British YouTuber retard named Martin Keary made one of the best examples of the state of journalistic integrity about it in which he lies about virtually every single possible conceivable thing in an attempt to leverage the still-warm corpse of one of his fans as a way to drum up support for an Internet censorship bill, and personally graced the thread along with parents of former members who would rather burn the Internet down than acknowledge their own neglect, as well the current and former admins of the site.
My bad then. I couldn't actually remember the name of it and I searched around a bit and I found that link inbetween a bunch of articles saying the site was gone. It's been a while since I looked at the thread about them. I posted the comment then I actually went and looked at the link and it didn't seem like I remembered so I thought I'd inadvertently posted some scammer imitation site or something.
Just like a lot of social contagion things, suicide methods and places are trends.
