Why are Americans so obsessed with protecting their children from everything? They created the UN, the declaration of Human rights, have sponsored numerous subversive NGOs around the globe all, adopted the Patriot Act, etc; in order to have significant influence if not covert control over the policies of numerous nation-states? All in order to protect their kids. 9/11 was bad, but that's on you, not on me.

In the 1800s, child labor was the norm; they were smaller, could do jobs an adult couldn't do, and could be paid less. As a result, children got sick, injured, and killed in the name of profit. A movement began to change labor laws restricting or even banning children from hard labor.

The activists of the time promoted the idea that children were not small adults, but rather precious beings who should be protected and cherished. This is the legacy we inherited.

Another labor movement from this time was the creation of an 8 hour work day. Before this, laborers could work as much as 16 hours a day. It was during this time that the idea of 8 8 8 was born: 8 hours of sleep, 8 hours of recreation, 8 hours of work. A 40 hour work week and 8 hours of sleep a night is considered healthy to this day.

They're not, women gained the right to vote approximately 100 years ago and if there's anything that short circuits a woman's decision making processes (worse than they already are by default) it's the idea of "baby in danger".

This makes it extremely easy to get people in your democracy to back / support anything you want to manufacture consent for at large, by couching it in "protecting children" rhetoric.

alot of it stems from the missing kids milk carton area. long story short it did more harm than good instilling a lot of fear into parents and overall wasn't very effective. It's a way to get the public to comply with whatever the government wants to do. Usually, it's nothing good and doesn't protect any children at all. Just think of the children is the rallying cry of the government for the normie retards to fall in line. No one wants kids to be in danger. All you have to do is claim there is some threat. It also plays well with the public politically and gets votes.
