Perhaps not the most explicitely worst animes in respect to content (outright sexual shit) the ones that always stood out to me as being woefully gross due to how popular they were despite having weird as fuck undertones -- Black Butler, and Kill la Kill.

I *tried* to watch Black Butler as a teenager, but the weird nature of the relationship between the Butler and the kid was weirding me out even as a late stage teenager.

Kill la Kill just outright flashes teen tits.

They aren't hardcore or whatever, but they were popular as hell which somehow makes them even worse to me. Netflix, so not surprising.

The problem is the creators of these shows seem to assume they and their audience are a bunch of pathetic, whiny, generally contemptible dweebs. That creates an issue if you haven't resigned yourself to being a pathetic faggot, because then all you're doing is watching a show where some human puddle of gelatin is given power, fame, and has women throwing themselves at him for showing virtually no initiative at all. Watching wish fulfillment for someone who, by all rights, should be getting their head shoved in a toilet is aggravating.

I kinda have to disagree on all anime being bad. Modern cutesey anime is gross but there are some gems hidden within the degeneracy.

Ghost in the Shell and Psycho-Pass are outstanding works of art and really fuel that post-modern distopian storytelling that is so uncreative in the west. Hellsing is pretty good too.

Merciful god that looks truly awful visually. I get there's always a push for sex appeal with anime but this is about as subtle as a freight train wreck.

Really there's so much anime that comes out that most of it is truly trash without anything all that redeeming about it. Generic designs, tired stories, nothing but coom bait characters. Most of it just gets forgotten and dumped without ever being remembered. For every controversial anime like the ones mentioned here there's likely 25-30 more that came out recently that just didn't find or deserve any eyes on it.
