I am extremely talented, but also extremely lazy. So it evens out to being moderately successful.
Advice: Don't be lazy.

I succeeded in life and retired before I was 40 by following these simple rules:

• Don't tell people what you are really thinking
• Do your job instead of bullshitting with your coworkers or sneeding with people online

As long as you can do all that and deliver results that put everyone else to shame you will be moved up the ladder quick, fast, and in a hurry. Everyone above you will think they can make use of you, but if you keep from becoming their pet gimp and still deliver results the person above them will think they can make use of you, etc. Eventually you will reach a point in your career where you have very few people above you and they have very little that is coming directly to them, so you will end up as just a fixer who solves the worst problems when they finally make it up the chain of command to your level.

But I lied, I didn't actually succeed in life. I am an abject failure without a wife of kids. Don't be like me. I regret pretty much every decision I made after I left high school and would trade everything I have for a family.
