I think it was Marvin who said this, but Chris isn't (that) stupid; he knows bills need to be paid, and he's smart enough to recognize patterns in the bills- when they arrive, what they're for, when they're due, etc. He'll make the minimum payment necessary to keep the lights on, but otherwise blissfully ignore reality.
However, this is where the Idea Guys and their manipulation come into play. They've convinced Chris (who was never the most stable individual to begin with) that his lunatic creations are real, and that he can meet them. Chris has been blowing off his credit card debt (until reality intrudes in the form of lawsuits), believing himself to be rich in his fantasy world, and as soon as the dimensional merge happens, he'll pay off the debt. His grip on reality is more tenuous than ever, and one of two things will happen: 1., he'll get a grip and carry on much as before, hiding out in his room, living a white trash lifestyle and sperging about Sonichu; or 2., he'll go completely off the deep end and have to be forcibly committed.
In my humble opinion, the "Straightjacket Saga" won't be a thing unless something (such as a new Idea Guy) appears and gives Chris that final push over the edge.
