Chris needs a support plan in place to fall back on when Barb dies because otherwise he probably will be rendered homeless and unable to lift himself out of it.
I say that because if there are any family members who would step in to put him up then they will realise in a short time that Chris is a parasite with no intentions of supporting himself. And if they throw him out and we lose contact with him I feel that would be very bad for Chris.

My list of a bare-bones support plan that Chris will need in place by the time Barb dies to stave off the homeless saga. I vote Null implement it since he's familiar with Chris:
* Get a Trawler - Updating his tugboat income now that he has no financial support, hopefully leading to him getting a larger payout.
* Four walls and a roof - Find a tiny apartment to base himself in that he can afford on his shiny new trawler.
* Teach him not to utilize credit or debt to purchase things because he'll likely never dig himself out of it if he does.
* Teach him to always keep enough money for next months rent in the bank.

I don't think Chris could sustain a job so ideally he lives off the tugboat for the rest of his life.

Chris has no family that will take him in. Cole has severed contact and neither Bob nor Barb's extended families seem to want to have anything to do with him. You've presented a decent and sensible plan here, but I doubt that Chris will have the wherewithal to try and get his tugboat increased or to go apartment-hunting, and I also doubt he'll ever learn to be better at managing his money for the long term, not after so many years of being a habitual spendthrift.

I'm pretty certain that when Barb goes to that great horde in the sky, somebody will step in and help Chris. Even though people are fed up with his craziness and people are blocking him left and right on twitter, there will inevitably be one or two people who will give Chris money or pull some strings to get him shelter somewhere. When his house burned down there were plenty of people who sent him money and care packages so I really believe people will do the same when Barb passes.

Agreed, excpet the only institution he'll be in is state prison. He's played the tard card in court too many times as it is, and with Barb merging into another dimension Chris will have nothing to hold him back or cover for him.

Lets be honest, no troll(s) will actually seriously take Chris in. I could see people genuinely feeling sorry for him though & giving him money if he becomes semi-homeless after Borbs passing, but that's it really. He doesn't willingly play it. He is extremely autistic and not at all bright. Throwing him in a state prison for any long period of time isn't something that Virginia's correctional system sees a need to do, unless he commits a serious crime. He's better off on the therapeutic docket, where he is, or being involuntarily committed for some period of time. The latter isn't likely unless his therapists sees him as a serious threat to himself or others.

There's always the USDA subsidized apartments that have the sliding-scale rent based on income. I've had friends that were on hard times that paid very reasonable rent for a decent place. Chris could probably get one of these, granted he actually had the initiative to go through the approval process.

Considering SSDI on average can deny you at least 2 or 3 times before you get it (or at least from what I've heard), I'd say it'd be a long ass time.

I'd say it all depends on the local public housing authority, and how back-logged they might be.

All he has to do is not chimp out and if he does and they ask him to leave, assume that he is the fuckup and just leave quietly. If he just did the latter, he wouldn't end up permabanned. All of his permabans are because he is too fucking dumb to leave somewhere when he's told to.

One of the sad parts about Chris is he never realized his hugbox padded cell of a high school that tolerated his bullshit was not how the real world works. Chris is lucky the only places he willingly wants to venture into are safe corporate places with policies on how to ask customers to politely leave. That mainly let encourage your way out the door instead of being confrontational with you. If Chris didn't grow up in Mayberry aka Charlottesville, his life would be radically different.
