Best case scenario, and probably most likely is Chris gets some plea deal and gets minimal jail time. I don't think we're gonna see Chris Chan on trial.

If they did go to trial Chris is gonna be in jail unless some ween pays his bail and then I'm not sure how he would live for the months leading up to the trial since he's definitely gonna get kicked out of 14 Branchland if Barb gets moved to a home and he loses her part of income.

There won't be a trial and Chris isn't going back to 14 BLC.

Best case scenario? Chris spends the full 180 days in evaluation for fitness to stand trial while they move Barb to a home because she can't take care of herself, 14 BLC is sold. Chris is found competent and takes a plea deal and spends a year or two in a min security prison with a vocational training program and the regular ass kickings that Bob never gave him. Barb dies before he gets out, when he's released he moves to a halfway house and finds a job with his new skills and new attitude from the ass kickings. Chris lives out his lifee with no online presence as a weird dude with a job.

I can't see Chris being group homed unless the state petitions the court to say that Chris is no longer competent to look after himself and they appoint a Guardian for him as well, The reliance that the State and County will do the right thing is way to high.

The court does not take the decision to appoint a Guardian lightly, It takes a lot - You are legally allowed to be a nut case and still look after yourself and your affairs. Chris has a good argument that for an extended period of time now he has been managing finances (albeit badly), maintaining a roof over his head, eating etc etc.

I really would not be shocked that Chris returns to the house on the 6th and that is the end of this, other than the house being sold - Although Chris does have a fairly good legal claim to the house as he can argue he has been paying the mortgage.

I don't disagree, but given how far gone he is, I don't think it'll really help. Couple that with the other people in the group home, I'd say it's only a matter of time before he does something horrifying again. Per Google:

If you're receiving SSI, your payments are suspended while you're in prison. Your payments can be reinstated in the month you're released. However, if your confinement lasts for 12 consecutive months or longer, your eligibility for SSI benefits will terminate and you must file a new application for benefits. With SSDI they resume right after you get out and aren't permanently terminated after 12 months in jail it looks like.
