What were your top 3 most influential websites? - It can tell you a lot about a person

Mine were:

1) VampireFreaks
2) Myspace
3) Youtube

I am adding a 4th as an afterthought, as it doesn't fit in the top 3 because it was for watching one specific webtoon, and that was IllWillPress.com

I am giving away my age with this list, hope you're happy 🫠

4chan
8chan
And the other message boards like Lainchan.

Those message boards were like a prototype version of this site. Influenced me a lot.

Mediafire
RT
Cheat Engine
The second one might be Russia propaganda, but it did teach me that America is not the entire world, and in turn my worldview on everything geopolitical and current event-related changed ever since.

1: YouThink - This is sad to say. It taught me to become a better debater, but I also made some enemies and creeped people out.

2: RateMyFace/Body - Even though I'm a 7 on a good day, I used to think I was attractive and spent all my internet time on face rating websites. This was depressing as well.

3: Utopia General Talk/Utopia - Mostly the General Talk subforum on the forums of a browser game, Utopia. I spent too much time there, as well. Got bullied as you'd expect, but eventually became more confident when I returned later on.

  1. YouTube - For edutainment, entertainment, music recommendations, etc. It has basically been formative for helping me out with my education and exposing me to other interests.
  2. Reddit - Not for its culture: My naivety was upended after having used it [when I was young] from about 2016-2018, when several facts and drama about the site and the company became known to me. That all demonstrated to me why one should always reserve some skepticism and critical thought when evaluating content and to be wary of social media run by especially large or organized private companies.
  3. Kiwi Farms

Runner ups:
  • Various videogame and videogame modding forums and communities which I sometimes contributed to - The latter kind got me introduced to various art software.
  • 4chan, specifically /ic/ - Mainly browsed/lurked, but it inspired and motivated me to improve my art skills.
