What was your worst hotel experience?

I tried to stay at the Embassy Suites in Birmingham Alabama a couple years back after like twelve hours straight of driving. Immediately tried to shower and it was so gross I put on my sandals before quickly noping out entirely. Got another room and it was gross too, checked out and went elsewhere. Literal trash laying around, grime, etc. It was worse than a typical Super 8 or Best Western. Was kinda amazed since prior stays at other Embassy Suites gave me a good impression. Then again I don't know what I expected in Birmingham.

The other place was gross too--Holiday Inn I think, but it was a tolerable gross, not the horror that this particular ES was. They tried to bill me some bullshit fees too which took a couple angry phone calls to resolve. Embassy Suites never again.
 
Went to the lift bridge inn in Duluth, Minnesota. No problems with the inn itself, but we went there on Dec. 26, and the temperature dropped to -10 and a storm came in, right when we had to cross the bridge itself, which was a metal cunt hair away from the Hades of Lake Superior, at 2am
 
My husband and I were in TN, stopped at a Red Roof In around 11pm. It's in the middle of summer, it's hot, and so we put the air conditioner on full blast. The AC was not working, it was blowing air but not cold air. We tried to stick it out until morning, but we both couldn't sleep.

We left at 3am, and there was no hotel clerk to bitch at. So, we left. I slept in the car some, he slept later on. Fuck red roof in.
 
I was supposed to stay over night in a motel on the Eastern Shore of Virginia in 2010 or 2011 for a wedding. I didn't book this room for myself, it was booked for me. I'm pretty sure it was this place:
Gross Motel
It's since been renovated. The inside of the room was painted battleship grey and the walls consisted of cinder blocks. No drywall, just painted cinder blocks. The bathroom was tiny and had missing tiles. The thing that really got me were the air fresheners hanging from the ceiling. Like in that scene from Se7en with the person labeled 'Sloth'. Yes, there were multiple pine tree shaped air fresheners hanging from the ceiling. I immediately checked out and drove several hours home loaded up on coffee.
 
Can't say I been to a hotel that was extraordinarily shitty. My belief is that I should front extra to not catch diseases from an overnight stay: Couple of experiences:

1. Years ago, I went to a love hotel in Japan with the husband overnight because some of them are nicer but cheaper than a standard hotel. People were giving us looks because he was a tall white guy and I was average SE Asian woman. I guess it was because I looked like a prostitute?

2. Went to the infamous Clown Motel. You know, that one place right next to the old, abandoned cemetery! It's as nightmarish as you think.
 
One of the worst motels I stayed at I believe was in Nashville. Most of the rooms, mine included, faced a train yard, so I was kept awake most of the night by the sound of train cars coupling and decoupling. To add insult to injury, my roommate that night whistled in his sleep.

Runner up was hotel in a city I no longer remember. During the overnight, I was woken up by what sounded like loud passionate sex, someone screaming as if they were being tortured, doors opening and slamming shut, and an eerie silence immediately following that. Oddly, everyone else in my group claimed they heard nothing.
 
I've done work in extended stay hotels "pay by the week" kinda deals so it's cheating. Lots of these places were about 100 years old, the rooms were tiny with shared bathrooms. The floors were hardwood with rugs nailed down with roofing nails. Once they wore through a new rug would be nailed over the old one. Sometimes you'd find six rugs all worn through to floorboards. Needles shoved everywhere. Bed bugs everywhere.

Totally. The places were pretty upscale back in the day. A lot of the original oak trim was still in place, radiant heaters and tin ceilings with floral patterns, stained glass, pennyround tiles and clawfoot tubs. All painted over and grimed and ruined, of course.
 
When I was homeless I lived for about a week in a very cheap motel with my sister. The room was a little musty but the bathroom was very clean. I paid for the room and she stayed in it an extra week because she had nowhere else to go. Essentially, due to drug and stealing issues she burned every bridge she had and I had to move on. I haven't seen her in three years. I don't even know if she's alive. I can't seem to get direct contact and don't trust the people who contacted me.

But it was really... Something. There was a raid one night in a room on the ground floor across from us. And some crazy lady kept knocking on people's doors and saying they were her relatives. A guy complained to the manager that she was insisting they were cousins and she wanted to get into the room. The manager escorted her back to her room, which was next to ours. She proceeded to rave like a maniac and throw things against the walls all night. In the morning she was removed from the room by the police and they said she was never allowed back. Looks like there were a lot of damages.

My sister shot up in the room and told me the needles were for putting on makeup. That she used the plungers to apply eye makeup. Sure, Jan. :roll:

Some guy was coming around that I later found out was put in maximum security prison for sex trafficking and drug dealing. He held her prisoner a couple years ago in another hotel. He was using her to wire money to the Dominican Republic using my uncle's address.

The fact that I could be dead right now because of that guy never leaves my mind.

The only other times I was in hotels were when someone took me on a trip. That was my first time in a cheapo motel though. It was like something out of a 70s cop movie.
 
I stayed in a combo flophouse/Sro place for lollapalooza, one of those ones where you only have a sink in your room,somebody cut their greasy hair and left it in the communal shower along with wet towels, and then somebody shit like 30 gallons and plugged up the toilet and left turd smeared toilet paper everywhere. They didn’t clean it up the whole time I was there
 
I went on vacation to Disneyland with my family, when I was around 9-years-old. All was going well, and it was all fun and games, until one day I was walking just outside of my hotel room and saw a naked drunk guy laying down on the floor. He looked to weigh around 250lbs, was as hairy as a damn gorilla, and he was laying around in his own piss and shit. He also had his dick wrapped around his hand, and he just wouldn't get out of the hotel. We eventually had to call the police on him, because he just refused to move from his position. When the police arrived, the fat gorilla man got dragged out of the hotel. While this was happening, he was shouting racial slurs and releasing his bowels to create a snail-trail of liquid shit that traced his path from just outside of our hotel room to the hotel exit. For the rest of our vacation, all we could smell was pungent dried shit, because the faggot janitors refused to clean it
 
Popular tourist location: Room with private pool access. It looked great on the website and in real life.
Except that they had pool yoga-gym something many hours a day.
So many fat, wrinkled, drunk old assholes shaking their sunburned bodies outside my room I ended up paying for a downgraded room away from the pool.
 
My stepbrother got married on Super Bowl weekend and the game was in his city. The only room my little sister and I could get had a Tv that was stuck on a hard-core porn channel and the tv couldn’t be turned off. Also, funny stains on the bedding.

The marriage was short lived and my stepbrother ended up marrying my sister. Good times.
