Someone in the future will attempt to try to break out of this trend and we'll end up calling the next generation whatever it is that they have decided. This current generation was decided by a research for corporations. I would be surprised if we kept on going as we'll have generation delta in 30 years and people will be calling them deltoids.
If it coincides with a big event, then they'll be named after that, which is why I mentioned Covid. Boomers are called boomers cause of the post war economic/baby boom, the greatest generation are called that cause they served in wwii, there's also stuff like pioneers who were the ones who settled the US, the hugenots who were a political splinter faction from france and germany who settled south africa. Minor overlap with movements of the day which fizzle and die out.

Also if I recall correctly, Generation X was a placeholder name that never got changed, and it stuck. Millennials were erroneously called Generation Y as a follow up, but were eventually given a proper name. Generation Z had the same thing again, but are simply called "Zoomers" colloquially as a play on Boomers.

With that being said, let's ditch this trend of naming each generation after a letter, Latin or Greek. It's just so unimaginative and lazy, plus it all just stems from Generation X being a generation of unknowns because no one knew what to call the next batch after Boomers.

Gen B, full of Beta males.
Gen C after it will be full of Coomers.

Adolf have mercy on the future when it reaches Generation P-ajeet.

Why does it need to have a name? This is the type of bullshit people do to create an identity they can identify with, or classify others in.

Should it have a flag too?
It's a useful shortcut to talk about the general differences between generations. For example baby boom generation is bigger than those both before and after and thus have outsized political influence, and are causing difficulty on the workload with retirement.

But apart from that kind of demographic and fiscal analysis, it's also good for fashion, memes, and just communication in general.

Considering the influence the chinese will have, the future generations will just be numbered as they're not known for their creativity. Just look up the meanings of chinese city names.

Gen Betas may not actually end up living up to their gens name considering the fact a lot of their parents will be Gen Zers and they have seen the consequences of giving children unrestricted internet access both in their own lives as well as Gen Alpha I am not going to pre-empitvely say "were so back" given that the entirety of Gen Beta just started and they are all infants, hell even the few reasonable and intelligent Gen Alpha's i have actually talked to are basically Luddite Nazis, a bit hyper but they have the right ideas generally, hell they are probably even more socially conservative than I am, again they are a minority, but they do notice

By the time they reach Generation Sigma, will looksmaxxing be mandated by the state so that all Chads and Stacys can have a trad wedding?

Then again, they'd all be lone wolves.

Previous generations such as "The Greatest Generation" and "The Silent Generation" were given those names after the fact, to reflect something about their time. Gen X sort of fits that mold, but other than that, since Baby Boomers the names have been chosen less for who that generation was and more as just a temporal indicator (it was the millenium, so theyre millenium-als). Now, going forward, all future generations will be labeled 20 years in advance by a journalist drinking a decaf rooibos tea sitting next to a shelf covered in funko pops. Auspicious beginnings

I really hope the Beta label doesn’t stick. Maybe we should rename Generation Alpha first. I personally miss when generations weren’t labeled until they at least came of age.

The Lost Generation are those that died in the First World War

Gen Alpha kicks off with the IPad kids (usually known to start around those born in 2010 to 2012 and goes up to 2025)

I guess the generation afterwards are going to be depression era kids with all the effects coming down the pipeline of losing the Iran war / strait of Hormuz being closed
