What shaped your political beliefs?

I grew up in a household that was open minded politics wise, even though my father was a Reagan conservative, he allowed me to explore my own political thoughts, and this started out as me being a Trotsky flavored commie, and he would support this on the basis of allowing me to make my own opinions (he did still do little debates with teenage me for reasons that should be obvious). This position softened to a Bernie-Demsoc during the 2016 election cycle, and right before election night, my father passed away, and the resulting destruction of familial ties over money and inheritances, where the more leftist members of my extended family being the culprits, essentially changed my views radically to the authoritarian right, where I still sit now.

TLDR: Greedy two-faced family members caused me to drop the Rose and pick up the Iron-Cross

I grew up in a pretty democrat family that leans heavily left and in a really progressive area so obviously I grew up believing all Republicans are just evil demons trying to repress free rights with religious ideology.

But luckily I grew up on 4chan and I was used to blunt discussion with no ego attached that breeds just a simple acceptance of others opinions regardless if you agree. I guess the turning point really was Gamergate and the general fuckery of the left and people I thought were logical just loosing their marbles over a nobody whore. I realised the left was just shitty censorship of a different flavour and I haven't looked back. As I've gotten older I really empathise with traditional conservativism. I used to think family values stuff was a bunch of BS as a kid (mainly because I had such a strong family upbringing that I took for granted) but I realised family focus and strong communities are really important to the success of humanity. You see the amount of people who are criminals/addicts/troons that have shitty upbringing and shitty parents and it seems almost a no brainer we should be stressing traditional family values. It's the only thing we leave as a legacy in the end.

I'm probably WAAAAY lefty compared to most Kiwis ;)
My dad brought me up to be liberal, and it was Catholic school (I had a lot of teachers who were about social justice, but the Catholic kind of social justice, not the SJW kind)
But it's mostly like in the old fashioned, I think it's important to make sure people have enough to eat, have a roof over their heads, little kids shouldn't have to die of basic medical issues because mom and dad are too poor to afford their medicine, schools should be funded, we shouldn't fuck up the environment too much, etc. Just the basic shit. No SJWs, I don't give a shit about "digital blackface". Nobody cares about "queer baiting" in Harry Potter, or why your pressure head canon isn't true. Suck it up, you big baby. There's a reason it's called "First World Problems".
I wish "social justice" would go back to worrying about the sick and the homeless, not some stupid Tumblrita whining about representation in a super hero movie. That's what I remember it meaning when I was growing up. :(

As for LGBT, I'm basically live and let live. It's not bothering me, so hey, I'll treat you how you want to be treated. If you want to be called "X", well I'll call you X, it's no skin off of my ass. I do reserve the right to point and laugh at the retards, however.


I finally did find a reasonable tumblr page, though, at least for my own beliefs.

I'll admit, I grew up around conservatives, but with a bent of voting for the platform rather than voting for conservative ideals only. I generally abide by the Constitution, as a I view it as a sacred document, rather than a document each side cherry picks which amendment they like to defend and the rest be damned. I also try to shape my politics on data, as I want something that can work and can be cost efficient, such as the topic of healthcare, though anything against guns are tossed into the trash. I'm also a generally "live and let live" type of person in regards to social issues, though that doesn't mean that I won't judge you when you're acting like an entitled twat.
 
Today at school I was gang-banged, and when I tried to tell authorities, they all laughed at me, said that Trump is president so they can do what they want, and then one cop even forced his fingers into me. I cried and tried to go home, but had to hide in the bushes as I witnessed my LGBTQ+ friends chained up being herded into vans to go to concentration camps. My neighbour set a womyn of color's house on fire while the cops applauded
