Why discard them? Honest question.
They should not be discarded, and he's far from rambling in them. On the contrary, an early, still clearheaded work like Human, All Too Human is likely more accessible than the pathetic tone of redditor-on-the-verge-of-madness in Zarathustra or Antichrist.

Start with these three and read them in this order, as it's from least to most complicated:

Art of War, by Sun Tzu
The Prince, by Machiavelli
Republic, by Plato

After that, I dunno man, just start reading some normal history. Those three books will give you a good framework for sorting out retardation and truth.

Everything is fake and gay, even more than you can imagine.
Every so often someone just reinvents the wheel again, huh?

If you are going to seriously read philosophy, the most important thing is to disregard the idea that you should only read this or that philosopher, because you think they agree with your outlook, or you heard from the internet that they are retarded, or whatever other reason. If you want to explore philosophy it is above all necessary to examine all of the ways of thinking, all of the arguments, form your own opinions on them, but most importantly don't simply dismiss them. Read them, evaluate them, and make up your own mind.

Start with the big names, your Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, Seneca, Schopenhauer, Epicurus, Kants, Locke, Russel et al. These kinds of guys are like your Beatles and Led Zeppelins and Deep Purples of philosophy. You might not find them all to your taste but you can't go off claiming to understand rock 'n' roll if you don't at least know them. From there you can go where you like.

It's perfectly valid to conclude, at some point along this journey, that the whole affair is a waste of time.

Nearly all of the big name philosophers brought up at least a few good questions/points, even the ones who ended up with retarded worldviews. (Granted life is short, so it’s advisable in practice to skip the goofuses).

Art of War, by Sun Tzu
Ancient Chinese Proverb: Man who runs behind car will get exhausted, but man who runs in front of car will get tired.
