Been thinking lately about what makes jokes that are labelled as racist, phobic, or shit-postery so funny.
Is it that we are literal bigots laughing like NPCs watching Kimmel?
Is it because the jokes acknowledge the bias inside of us that we fight against internally irl? Are we laughing at ourselves as a sort of acknowledgement as much as just because a joke is funny?
Is it that jokes are jokes and nothing else matters?
Is offensiveness like spice where it just adds a nice bit of zing to a well prepared joke or occasionally salvages a poor one?
I'm interested what you all think.
