I'm gonna with feral cat. Hear me out.
On the surface, fairly benign. Considered a pest at worst, generally speaking. Some folks think they're alright, and take them in. But the thing about a truly feral cat is once they're set in their ways that's pretty much it. It's very hard to humanize/domesticate an adult feral cat. They'll shit and piss everywhere, attack any other animal that comes near and will murder/destroy anything more vulnerable than it. They exclusively rape if unfixed, They'll eat anything they can, and absolutely demolish any house they're held in through said shitting, pissing, and spraying. They love to chase shiny things.
That's Tom in a nutshell, really.

I'd say maybe like a Tasmanian Devil.
They're solitary antisocial creatures whose primary defense is shrieking and trying to act tough in an attempt to scare other animals away, they prefer to eat carrion and other gross shit instead of working for their meals, they leave scent markings everywhere they go, and they more or less reproduce via rape.
Of course Tasmanian devils also tend to be sort of cute, which is definitely one aspect where they deviate.
