It’s a tomte. The term derives from their word for a plot of land, tomt. It’s a household spirit, basically like a domovoy. There’s a christmas (Yule) tradition associated with it, which is to sacrifice a bowl of porridge to it so as to appease it, failure to do so will make it cause you misfortune over the coming year.
