Jeeps are definitely driven by a lot of douches, and the Chrysler and Fiat produced ones just seem to keep getting worse.

However up until the mid-90's they were a pretty decent brand that almost lived up to the good part of their reputation (rugged-go anywhere, even if you have to have a Toyota FJ pull you out when you break down) and not the bad part (reliability issues and rollover machines). There have been more viable off-roading options since at least the 70's (the aforementioned Toyota FJ Land Cruiser among them) but like Harley Davidson they hang on due to image despite arguably being overpriced and outgunned by numerous other options. I'd take my WRX mudding before I'd hop in a Fiat Jeep.

I stand by the XJ Cherokee as being a very good and surprisingly nicely-handling little off-roader.

Thing is Jeeps aren't outgunned by other options. Fiat jeeps suck yes, but they still have the best offroading scores on rhe market unless you're buying a sherp or something, and the Chrysler V8 and V6 options are solid still. Bronco is right behind them in terms of offroading. Toyota trucks have never come close to American or European offroaders, and I think it was in 2021 testing they had to set the Toyota aside in a 4 way test between a Landy, bronco and jeep because the yota was literally incapable of doing some of the tests.

They no longer have rhe legendary "fall off a cliff and get hit by a nuke and keep going" survivability that old 4.0 Jeeps had, but then again nothing today does. Modern cars are exceptionally fragile and squishy when it comes to this sort of thing

Nissan Skyline is probably my pick, solely for the amount of un-earned hype it generates.

It's an unreliable POS that was only ever successful at racing because it was placed in the wrong class, still managed to spend half it's racing life broken down, and has insanely bad engine, driveline, electrical problems stock, as well as being exceptionally unsafe by even 90s standards.

Nissan, however, has capitalized on this "legend" and at this point I'm pretty sure car journos/youtubers are forbidden from discussing its problems, despite the last years of it being nearly 25 years old. In a recent Hoonigan video, the R32 owner, when asked about his car, opened up with "well, as you know, RB26s have alot of problems-" and once of the hosts literally cuts him off with "ABUAHAHBUABA TELL US ABOUT THE TURBOS".

It's nearly impossible to find any mainstream information about this car's issues, despite being well known on the actual tuning scene

Jeep Wranglers aren’t as off-road capable as they should be to justify how awful the on-road experience is as either a driver or passenger. The 4-door Unlimiteds look like shit but people buy them because they want that Jeep “cool” while still being able to take the kids to soccer practice. Good job fucking up the breakover angle, retard.

Hummer H2s don’t do anything well enough to justify existing besides killing people in smaller cars in tbones and rear-ends. They’re great at that. If you take it off road you’ll snap something like a tie rod very quickly.

The thing was 100% manual in every sense of the word, including the steering (no power steering). I doubt it was capable of reaching the 70 MPH which is common on today's highways. It's existence was only possible with the 55 MPH highway rule in effect. The base model didn't have a radio or A/C.
