What is the greatest moment in human history?

I think splitting the atom, specifically the Chicago pile. We may not be using nuclear as much as we should now, but in 1000 years, if we're still around God willing, we'll look back on it with reverence and gratitude.

I’d have to agree here. Either this or the nuking of Japan where America showed the world what it really means to be superior.

I'm admittedly a bit of a sentimental fag, so I prefer the constructive use over the destructive.

I’d argue that it was constructive. Before we struck them with what the world at the time could only conceive as the power of an almighty God wielded by the hand of man the Japanese were still a savage war mongering people of little value to the wider world. However, once they had been shown firsthand what could happen if they continued on that path they became one of of not the most peaceful and productive nations on the planet. We gave Japan a gift.
