I agree, but twice is a bit of an understatement.

It'd be more interesting if it happened post-Barb, whilst she's not exactly a saint when it comes to money Chris makes her look like Littlefinger.

He'd probably use it for sympathy, blame it on stress, realise that it was too much effort to change his lifestyle and buy legos instead of his meds. Considering Bob didn't seem terribly bothered by his multiple heart attacks, I wouldn't be surprised if Chris had a similar attitude.
