Chris would always lose in a competitive video game match. If he played a game like Team Fortress 2, he would always get killed due to using horrible tactics that would only work if his opponents were kids who couldn't tell what each key did. He rage every-time he died, he would rage at every tea-bagging and at every match he lost. The trash-talking that he receives from teenagers and adult gamers would make him stress-sigh and quit, crashing into slumber due to all the hate he receievs.
If the Chandler house was to catch a fire, it would burn up rather quickly due to the fire hazards it has. If Barb and Chris are in the house, they will die if they aren't close to the only exit there is, even then they could still perish if the fire was close to the entrance, and if the flames don't get them, the fumes and the smoke will surely take away their lives. If they aren't home while the house burns, then they are effectively homeless, having nothing but their money, the clothes they wear, anything they have while they were shopping, Chris' Apple products and Vita, and whatever car they used.

Imagine an abandoned Ruckersville that would slowly be reclaimed by nature. Alternately, Ruckersville ends up like that one town(Said town would be used in the first Silent Hill film) that lost much of its population due to an underground coal fire, with no one living there save a few residents trying to scrape by with what was lost.bungholio dijo:

Even if they didn't trash talk it wouldn't matter. Chris is probably the biggest sore loser of all time. He would probably be one of those people who mutes everyone else and then screams into the mic when he loses.

Any wood framed house catching fire is potentially a lethal situation; even in a clean house you've got natural gas in the stove, quite possibly some very combustible things like WD-40 or Motor Oil in a garage, and many hazards. If it starts in the Kitchen, there is the possibility that it might be small enough to douse it with water from the sink, unplug devices, etc. 14 Branchland is so badly maintained that the yard is turning into a forest, but I think it takes a special kind of moron to screw with the power, and Chris is not the highly motivated play with electricity type.
14 Branchland is probably no more likely to catch fire on its own reasons than any other house; Chris, although an idiot, is smart enough not to play with fire.
All that aside, Ruckersville does seem to have a volunteer fire department around 5 miles from CWC's house. For once, CWC isn't super far from something important, and odds are if he and Barb manage to get out of the house, medical attention is probably forthcoming quickly enough to save them. Fires are situations where people do things like jump out of windows, if he's not near the source of the fire and doesn't try to desperately fight it, Chris survives.
Is 14 Branchland covered in Methane? Jokes aside, Methane is a lifting gas and probably flies right through 14 Branchland's poorly maintained roof. A more troublesome question is what happens when things like old electronics catch fire, producing all kinds of poisonous gasses, or if there is something at 14 Branchland that will detonate. Barb has all kinds of crap from the goodwill all over the house, but it also be that a lot of it either won't burn (dishes, porcelain, metal items) or won't burn any worse than the rest of the house (furniture and clothes are inspected to meet that standard). We could be very wrong, but unless the fire traps Chris at least, he's probably alive. He might be burned, he probably will have smoke inhalation, and if he's got to go out a second story window, he's going to be banged up from that.
I've been mute on Barb. Although she is probably in good enough shape to escape, this goes directly against her psychology: she's spent decades accumulating this crap, she refuses to throw any of it out, she probably knows she's run this risk for years.
Now its under attack, its going down, so willed by chemistry. I think Barb tries to fight the fire and dies, misjudging how serious the situation is. Barb should run immediately, but I don't think she would. She's run this risk for many years, she knows it, she accepts it. If it came down to it, she'd probably rather die than have it taken away.
Chris' life is basically shot to hell in a fiery nightmare. Barb dead, most of his possessions burnt (less whatever is stashed in his car). He owns the land, and insurance probably pays a large chunk of money. He could rebuild, but rebuilding will take months even without considering his personality. Indeed, his personality is now utterly unchecked and he might have something like $200,000 in his grubby hands.
He squanders the money. He hires hookers, rebuys his consoles, and lives in squalor. It takes less than a year and he's blown hundreds of thousands of dollars. He has a tugboat, which is larger now. He has whatever wealth Barb had stashed, but the brakes are finally applied to his spending and lifestyle. The Tugboat can't pay for Chris' spending, no one will issue him credit again, and he'll either have to grow up in his mid 30s or probably scale down his life further.
