I'm beginning to wonder if he wouldn't have, whatever slight, "real world" experience with the trolling if he had been taken in a sheltered setting like a hospital for his formation years.

I think -- and hope! -- that it would have taken many more "incidents" to justify institutionalizing Chris. That was very likely Borb being dramatic.

What was actually being suggested, in all probability, was that he be placed in a special education school. I think most folks suspect that would have turned out much better.

Perhaps you are correct. The one incident that I think he may have been institutionalized was the "holding down and recording" in elementary school.

I believe that did happen, and the reason was Chris was repeating some very bad things he probably heard from the Borb duo. Threatening with just going to a different school might not justify moving halfway across the state, but if it was "we take your kid and if we find out you two helped fuck him up, we're coming after you" type of institutionalization and state involvement, it just might make sense.
