Real talk, I think he would have been fine. I'm pretty sure the instructors would at the very least try to accommodate and assist Chris if he's struggling on anything in the class.
And as much as the Chandlers tended to overreact to things, they probably wouldn't have made as much of a scene about being turned down as the woman in the article did. And even if they were upset, social media wasn't around to gripe about it with friends. Barb would just mention it in passing to her co-workers when she was still working.
