I think it was a big thing for awhile because it was technically legal. There aren't a lot of people outside the Horn of Africa who actually prefer substituted cathinones, and that's just because they can get the weaker, natural phytoalkaloids jn plant form for a low price as bundles of khat. It's almost entirely about accessibility.

100%. Had to be at the height of when research chemicals were hitting the streets around here when i first tried it. IIRC it got made officially illegal earlier around here than it was made illegal in the UK, from what i can gather it was much bigger over there than in Germany too. All i remember from mephedrone was that it was hell on my sinuses, much more than the gutter-tier Speed that was (and still is) around here. Good buzz though and only marginally more expensive than amphetamines. Definitely more euphoric than the Speed we got/get here.
