I've always tended to think that adding "professional" in front of something meant you were at a point where you get paid to do it.

Well, my job title is "scientist," but it could more accurately be described as "pipette bitch." I basically pipette fluids into plates and tubes, wait for incubations, read results, lather/rinse/repeat. ELISAs, ECL assays, similar things. Pharma industry, but a contract research org, not an actual consumer pharma co.
